DIY Tranny Flush --What's Needed?
DIY Tranny Flush --What's Needed?
Anyone know exactly what I'll need to do a transmission oil flush on a '96 auto? I assume I'll need some kind of vacuum pump deal -where is this available and for how much? Is it all worth it or should I just fork over $70 to let someone else touch my car. At the very least, what brand of fluid should I refill with?
Thanks.
Thanks.
ok the procedure is easy and you dont need any equipment, just buy 10qts fluid, and another set of hands would be useful,
1) drain tranny and remove pan
2) clean magnets on pan and change filter/screen
3)put pan back on with new gasket
look for the tranny cooler line going to the radiator, the short line , and pull it out of the radiator
4) turn on car put in nuetral
5) add fluid and watch it come out of the tranny cooler line, have a bicket under the line
6) add about 5 qts and when you do that and watch the old fluid go out, close the engine, and put the line back on, and refill to proper level, and that shoudld do it,
thats how i did it mine and thats how my friend who works at the mercedes dealer does it too
