How much HP loss with bad spark plugs?

When I got back car back from the mech. He told me 3 of my spark plugs were bad. It was discolored. This is due to me using nitrous without getting 1 step colder plugs. But my ? is how much performance am I losing? I heard people getting copper instead of platium plugs for nitrous right? Isn't copper plugs a lot cheaper anyway?

You're running nitrous without colder plugs Definately get a set of the NGK copper one step colder plugs. How much performance are you loosing? Depends on how bad your plugs were. I'd be more concerned about why they were discolored instead of how much power you're loosing. Just by looking at the plug you'll be able to tell a lot about what's going on in the motor.

Here is one site but there are lots of others just do a search about reading plugs.

You are lucky if you ran spray with stock heat range platinum plugs.

I run two steps colder gapped at .035. The pressure from nitrous will blow out the flame from a platinum plug and for the same reason you gap them closer. Each step colder also reduces head temp by somewhere around 80 def F, don't mess around you are playing with fire.

Even for my 35 shot I run the same plugs.

How big a shot are you running? If 50 or below then I would gap around .040 if higher go .035".
