The first thing that I would do is disconnect the negative terminal on your battery post. Let is sit for a few hours (over night or something maybe). This will often reset the ECU, but I am not sure if it will reset the security computer. It is worth a try. The next thing I would do (make sure your car is unlocked, perhaps with the key in the ignition, but not in the ON or ACC position, just slid into the cylinder) is remove the fuse(s) that are linked to the accessories and keyless entry system. The reason I suggest this is because by doing so, you are breaking any and all power contact that might be allowing your ECU or security computer to store trouble codes and or defaulted settings. This procedure may or may not work, but it is worth a try to save you money.
Typically, if the security light comes on steady, it is signalling that the car is in the arming process. If it is steady continuously, it may be signalling a malfunction. If your alarm is not going off as you drive down the highway, your best bet is to wait until you have done everything that you can. Do not grow impatient with it, just take it a little at a time and try a few things. I promise you that the dealer should be the last resort. It may be just a wire grounded somewhere. Do some investigating and reading about it. See if a friend has a factory service manual and can help with the wiring diagrams. Call another dealership and ask "What might make the security light come on when...." and then call a different dealership to get another opinion.

Not as new as you think. It just so happens that my diagnosis has led to my own security system working properly. My hood button was broken and my light did not stay on continuosly.
I offered some ideas, but never did I say that they would drill down the solution. Call me a Newbie if you want, but YOU try to figure out what his problem is and offer a better route to fix it.

K I took it to the dealer and they told me my battery $90 doesn't have enough Cranking apms, So I told them to go ahead and but it on. Now I called him this morning and he said my starter was messed up $350(I think cause I was trying to start it to much??) would the starter cause the security light to come on????
Does anyone else think it sounds like the immoblilizer was activated? Its ususally signaled by the security light being on. Theres another thread just started with the person saying the same thing. Just a thought.
