Major Problem

I tried to search this problem... but it said that I was not allowed to search. So anyway, I'm sorry if you guys have seen this question before. I am a Maxima Lover if you've ever seen one. I have a 91 SE and recently purchased a 95 SE. I purchased the 95 with problems. When you are riding down the road and taking off... it wants to stutter and hesitate REALLY bad. Every time you come to a stop sign and red light, it dies. It does not show any codes so I had to start somewhere. I put on a new TPS(throttle position sensor) and a Mass Air Flow Sensor. Neither have fixed the problem and this is starting to get really expensive. If any of you guys have any advice or have seen this problem, I would like to know. Hopefully, I will get more respect and help from you guys then I have ever gotten from the 3rd generation forum.

Thanks,
Justin

P.S. I forgot to tell you guys that I have found out that this has been going on for about 3 years... So I don't know how easy it will be to fix.

I agree.... Check and maybe even replace your plugs, Change your fuel filter, Clean your Throttle Body...... Check your ECU for any codes... You can find the links at the top of the 4th generation list to find out how to do it.... Or you can even take your car to a local Auto Zone and they will check the ECU for free......

That link tells you how to clean your Throttle Body

I was considering cleaning my Throttle Body since I have 65K and I don't think it's been done. I've done this on an earlier car, but am a little hesitant to do it to my '98. Are these directions for 4th gen? Don't get me wrong. I replace my breakes, plugs, fuel filter and all, but have not done this...yet!

The ECU shows nothing. I have just had a full tune up (Plugs, wire boots, coil packs (600 dollars), fuel filter, air filter and pcv valve). This problem is really getting to me. Any more suggestions will be appreciated.

You could have done alot of that work yourself and saved a whole lot of money.

if the TB is dirty to the point that the car stalls out at lights I would really be surprised...I would assume you have a good mechanic for the older max...use them as your diagnostic tool...and then do the work yourself...that's what I do

Have you had your compression checked?

I had a similar problem (stutter and hesitation) with my 99 SE-L, turned out to be a bad coil pack. It did not die at stops, and ran good if you were light on the throttle. It was worse in hot weather.

No codes showed up for me as well...

But, since you said you had the packs changed... This most likely is not the problem unless you got a bad new pack.
