Street one... and don't try to chirp your tires in 4th... Many people are blaming busted 3rd gears on the ACT.

It's my understanding that most people use the ACT street stage-1 full-disc clutch.

Anybody know where I could get the Stage 2 cheaper then at Custommaxima.com And would a Stage 2 do any harm to my tranny for next couple of monthes before SC.

The question is WHY would you want to? You planning on building up your engine (and tranny) so it can make 500+ hp?

Or do you just like the harsh clutch engagements?

Actually I do like the clutch to be a little harsh, but this is going to be my third clutch on my 98 with around 54,000 on it. The original clutch went out 15000 miles ago, and now the second OEM is gone. I guess I drive it crazy or something

Ummm....dont try? How in gods name do you "Try"? If you switch gears fast (like when you race) you will chirp the gears.....especially on a new clutch. If you mean dont rev while shifting then yes i understand that. BUT the main problem here is that i have heard people say bad things about the act.....like the disc going on them within 15K. I still here that the majority like their act. But im a little skeptical to get one now. Especially after your comment.

Some people just wanna be able to say they can chirp it in particular gear to brag about it.

Abuse the tranny (with any clutch) and be prepared to pay the price for the fun...

FYI, I've never had "chirp" 4th gear for any race even with my S/C (granted I really don't go looking for grudge matches... most cars back down after hearing my gear shift and the BOV going off)

Ya thats what i assumed. I know we can chirp third with the clutch, but thats a given considering how much more of an increase in pressure from stock there is. I just wanna make sure that even if i abuse an ACT a little that it will still be there after 40k. Cause i would abuse it right after the break in period/.

Just shift accurately and precisely during your WOT session and the ACT will take it. I've lit 3rd gear once but the was just messing around. It IS harse on your tranny. Make sure the clutch installation is done correctly.
