MEVI does not open or is always open!!! Pls. Help???

I installed the MEVI yesterday and today I programmed the RPM switch to 6cyl (button 1) and 5000RPM (button 2). I even set it at 1500RPM to test it and this is what I found:

The MAP/BARO switch that I have is from GM. It has 3 prongs:
- One prong (silver coloured) goes to the vacuum canister with a vacuum hose.
- Another prong (black colour) goes to the VIAS actuator with a vacuum hose.
- The third prong (black colour) is labelled "vent" in the directions.

Now, what happens is as follows:
- When the vacuum hose from the vacuum canister goes into one of the two black prongs on the MAP BARO switch and the engine is turned on and revved, the valves on the MEVI stay closed no matter what.
- When the vacuum hose from the vacuum canister goes into the other black prong on the MAP BARO switch, and the engine is turned on, the valves open and stay open at idle and even when revved.

What is going on here??? What am I missing? Which prong from the MAP BARO switch goes where? Do I have the wrong two prongs hooked up to the wrong devices?

Please help.

Thank you.

I tested my Map/Baro switch with the battery. I found out which two were always open, and which one was switched. Do this first before you go and start randomly putting on different hoses to different prongs lol.

Sorry I'm just a little too eager... teehee... can you please tell me exactly how to do that? Do you have the GM MAP BARO switch? If so, can you tell me which hose goes where on yours?

No, I do not have that exact one. There should be two wires coming out of it. One is ground, one is positive. Just run two wire from the batter to the switch. When connected, you will hear it click. Now, get two hoses that can fit over the prongs and that you can blow in. Now, by activating the switch, find the prongs that are always on and the one that is switched. Mark them and then look at the MEVI install instructions.

My positive and ground are connected directly from the MAP/BARO to the battery. I don't hear any clicking just from that. What do I do before I hear for the clicking in the map/baro switch?

There are 3 prongs in all... which prong do I leave out of this test? Would that be the silver one that goes into the VIAS actuator (assuming that I at least have this one correct)?

Do you have the map/baro switch off a Nissan Pulsar? What is the part # and what does Nissan call this part?

Thanks!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that you're supposed to set button 1 to coil-on-plug, not 6 cyl.

He's right, you have your RPM switch set wrong. Read the instructions again. Setting it at 6 cyl operation and 1500 RPM and then running it off the coil means the thing will not activate until 9000rpm... 6 x 1500 = 9000.

THANKS MAN!!! That was EXACTLY what was wrong... it works perfectly now........ only when I rev it on a driveway. The valves flip open and shut at the correct RPMs.

Then when I take it for a test drive I don't feel anything. I then brought it back to the driveway and opened the hood and revved it again... and NOTHING... the valves stayed shut.

What's going on guys???

Yep the T-valve looks perfect. If it wasn't creating a vacuum then the RPM switch wouldn't flash when I try to set it. The RPM switch works in terms of setting the coil per pack and RPMs... but it doesn't engage when I drive it.
