Using touch up paint, suggestions?

Ok, so it is pretty straightforward, Paint over chips and scratches with the little brush thing. However, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on making it look GOOD not just like a cover up. It is really hard to do on a dark car. Any help?

my suggestion is don't do it...cover up paint never looks right it always sticks out...just get a paint job for your bumper or wherever the chips and scratches are...

I haven't tried this technique yet, but heard it from a body shop my car was at recently. Their paint guy told me you can dab on touch up with the proper brush, which is not the one attached to the bottle. They are plastic, with an extremely small cotton tip. You should be able to get them at a parts place, or a detailing shop if not. Put on just enough to fill in the chip. After that, you blend it with 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper, which should be available at the same places.

He said it works best on black, but might be worth trying on other dark colors.

Hi there..I had very good luck with touch up paint. The truth is that even if you do an excellent job, probably you ll see it. I usually take my time when I do it,and as I said, it comes up good. After shaking the paint for some time,I use very little paint each time to touch up .If you got too much paint on the brush it goes bad.I start in the middle of the damaged surface. Little by little each time.Once the paint is slightly dry,do it again. DO NOT slide the brush on the surface. I never used sand paper, nor recommend it...(can t sand a tiny spot).
I had better results with Nissan paint than Honda.Honda paintdoesnt have much pigment in it,so you have do do it few times to cover the surface.
Good luck.
