Intake questions

Hey everyone I have a 97 SE 5 speed and I wanna put a Stillen intake on it. I've already added a Stillen exaust and I can really tell a performance difference. My question is, and this may seem kind of stupid....Is an intake going to shorten my engine life AT ALL? I'm just not sure about that. I wanna get more HP and have it really scream but I will not sacrifice the engine. Anyone have any answers? Thanks
Hey, when you got the Stillen Exhaust, Is there a really big difference in sound? I like the smooth sound of the Maxima, I don't really want to compromise that. What about the pop charger?

Stillen exaust
The exaust doesn't compromise the engine's smooth sound at all; the only thing it does to the engine is make it seem faster. The only time you can really hear it is from 1500-3000 RPM, and it sounds, well, I find myself going out of my way to drive through parking garages. I would seriously reccommend it.... Thanks for the answers everyone
Also, would an intake make the engine any less smoother? I won't compromise that either. Thanks everyone

The Stillen intake makes a nice growling sound when you really get on it. Otherwise, you won't know it's there after a while unless you really listen for it. I'd recommend it to anyone. I'm no mechanic, but I say putting an aftermarket intake on your car isn't what's gonna shorten the life of your engine. It's really all up to how you drive. If you're heavy footed all the time, sure it's gonna wear the out the engine faster regardless if you have an intake or not. Just my thoughts on that.

Depends
Well, it depends on your 100k Extended Warranty. Say, if this part breaks and is not related to the intake/exhaust, than it won't void it. But if you engine has major problems and they see you have an intake on it, they might blame the problem on that. It depends on the warrantor. As for engine life, it really doesn't effect it. It is probably better for the engine because you are letting it "breathe" better and easier. But if you constantly slam the throttle at every red light, than you can bet your engine that it will have a shortened life. Just my .02 cents.
Do you have the part numbers that you ardered for the Stillen set up? What all was replaced? Pipes, catalytic converter and muffler/tip? From what I have heard so far, Stillen seems to have the best performance without making the car sound like an angry bumblebee in a civic.
