Engine Removal Tips...HELP!

I'm about to swap engines in my 97 Max, but I can't seem to get my car jacked high enough to drop the engine through the bottom.

Is it possible to just drop the transmission through the bottom and remove the engine through the top?

The manual says to remove the engine through the bottom.

Oops!...my bad. The manual says that when removing engine transaxle combination, it is best to remove it from the bottom.

ehehe then you run into the problem that you have now

put the jack on a block of wood?? a few blocks of wood? (better be steady as hell )

otherwise unbolt the tranny and do each one seperately

That is what the FSM says, correct. However, if you don't have a lift, that's next to impossiable. People have, and I plan on: removing the tranny from the engine with the engine still in the car. Then remove the tranny by going out the bottom (duh) and remove the engine with a hoist from the top.

Seems the easiest.
