1997+ Trunk on 1995-96? Light conversion?
I really like the new gen 2 altezza's and it doesn't seem like they'll be making them for the 95-96 anytime soon. SO.... I was wondering if you took the trunk off a 97+ max would you effectively be doing a 95-97 light conversion? Or are the outer lights on a 97+ shapped differently also?

You need the trunklid and bumper, that's all. The outer tails are the same shape, only the inners are different. However the 97-99 trunklid goes down futher and if you use the 95-96 bumper it will hit the bumper every time you close it.

The trunklid will also lok funny because the rear fenders are different as well. The 95-96 trunk lid had a thicker curvature than the 97-99 and its rear fenders match that. A 97-99 trunklid will be off bescause its curveture wasnt that much/as thick.

I just did the swap. Yes it's not perfect, it's bit off. I'm still using the 95-96 rear bumper though. Plus, the 97-99 trunk lid wasn't in very good condition when I got it. It had a few dents and bends. Right now, the passenger side sit a bit higher than the driver side. You have to up close to see the imperfection. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't have bought the darn trunk lid in the first place. Although, it does look pretty good with the red/clear tails I got from Custommaxima.

Just for the record, there is no such thing as a rear fender. Its called a quarter panel. and the part by the bumper is called the rear body panel(underneath the bumper). You only have fenders in the front.
not trying to be harsh.

Money wise its not all that big a deal to get the trunk and bumper but for aestetics if its not gonna look perfect when its done i'm not gonna do it. Whay i am gonna try though is to make a set of gen 2 altezza's myself. I saw a write up on a website on how to make custom angel eyes which are basically the same thing except for your headlights. If i can figure out a way to rig them to my tail lights which sounds easy enough, i think it'll look pretty sweet. I'll keep you postered. First i'm building a custom sub box for my trunk today, should be done in a day or 2 i'll have pics when i'm finished.
