How do I replace an O2 sensor

Ok, I have figured out why my Check Engine Light is on. I got an error code 0409, which is the Upstream O2 sensor circut slow response fault (right bank).

How important is this?
How would I go about doing this?

thanks,
Jesse

buy an o2 sensor from www.thepartsbin.com
get under the car on ramps, and unscrew old o2 sensor, find out where it it plugs in and take it all off. put in new one. there's a decent picture of the o2 sensors and which one you need to replace at www.courtesyparts.com

you should probably replace it sooner than later, as you will fail emissions and your mileage will go down a bit with a faulty o2 sensor. However, you might want to reset the ECU and see if the code goes away or not.

Yeah, I reset my ECU like 5 times before I bit the bullet and put it in. They're really a bear to get to, so you may want to have someone do it. I had to replace both my L and R bank. FYI, theres two part #s for them, and the only diff in them is the length of the wire. So if you do them both and don't know what one goes where, then if the wires reach, you're ok. Oh, and also, I didn't know what bank was L and what was R. Seems that the one closest to the front bumper is the "L" if I recall correctly.

Hey, I reset the Check Engine Light, I restarted my car and the light didn't come on again. Does that mean that it was only triggered that one time? When you reset the light it doesn't ignore a fault does it?
I would assume that it works like a circuit breaker, it pops when you get a problem, you can reset it, but if the problem is still there, it will pop again... right?

thanks
