obx exhaust problems

anyone with obx catback.....has anyone had a problem with the b-pipe being too long?? The exhaust place is telling me that it is too long and the only way to fit it is to cut and weld it???

What year maxima do you have? A 97-99? Because it sounds like you may have the catback made for a 95-96 maxima. Since the B-pipe on those years is longer than the 97-99's.

Yes and No.... The b-pipe on the 97-99s might be shorter, but there is also an extra peace that is between the b-pipe and cat on 97-99s. This is all replaced by the OBX exhaust. If this extra peace wasn't replaced by an aftermarket exhaust then you would still have a major restriction behind your cat. My OBX b-pipe was the perfect length.

Get the shop to show you what they are talking about.

On my OBX the B-pipe was also too long, it was very easy, they just cut it around 4-7" and welded it on. On my OBX, it was a round canister muffler that said "99+" but in pictures of other peoples they have the oval style muffler. I dont know if I got the correct year.

.

the shop held the b-pipe to the OEM b-pipe and there was a good inch 1/2 of extra piping on the obx pipe...car is a 99 hopefully i don't have as many problems with this as I have had with warpspeed y-pipe's!

My OBX went on the car fine with no problems except for the tip alignment, which I fixed easily with metal hose clamps.....
