What material to use for "wooden" trunk mat material

The "wooden" trunk mat material that covers the spare tire hole is warped. I need to replace it with a very similar material. Cardboard is too flimsy and plywood is too heavy I think. I want something that is stiff enough to hold weight, but not as heavy as metal or dense wood. I just want to pick it up at Home Depot or some similar store and cut it myself.
Thanks

1/4" masonite. It's the same material that pegboard is made of, but with no pegs. One side is sorta shiny, the other a little bit dull. Very inexpensive (~$6 per 2x4' sheet), easy to shape with a jigsaw or rotary tool. Get it at Lowes, Home Depot, whatever similar you may have in your area.
