Provided your Max came with the GXE Security and Convience Package, then you should be able to buy a remote from the dealer or off of eBay.

Page 6 of the FAQ just near the bottom has instructions on how to program the remote.

Cheers,

Easy way to tell is if you have the security light on the left side of the steering wheel, next to the cruise control on/off switch.

Dont buy a factory alarm, upgrade to something better. You won't be sorry.

or if you just want keyless entry by an Omega keyless entry unit on ebay for $45 or so (includes shipping and the double pulse module) and install it yourself - it's a fairly simple process - I have a 97GXE with no S & C package - but now I have keyless entry!
They will ask you for your make/model/year of car and send you a wiring diagram and also tell you that you need a duoble pulse module - Our locks work with a double negative pulse.
I installed the receiver unit in the driver door - and tapped into all the wires right there from the window/lock switch console.

These are the directions for a 1997 GXE:
The parts are:
Programmable output unit
4 wire harness
AU-DP double pulse wiring harness
Remove the Window switch/door lock switch unit from the driver door.

Unplug the wiring harness.

Cut the White/Pink(purple) wire, the Black wire, the Light green/red wire and the green/yellow wire.

The red wire from the double pulse unit and the red wire from the standard wiring harness splice together with the White/Pink wire which is +12V always hot. Solder all these together and rejoin the white/pink wire.

The black wires from the AU-DP and the standard wiring harness should be soldered to the Black wire in the driver door.

The Blue and Brown wires from the AU-DP should be soldered to the Green/Yellow wire.

The Green wire from the AU-DP should be soldered to the Lt. Green/Red wire.

Insulate all cables with electrical tape.
Plug in the standard connector on the 4pin plug. Plug in the AU-DP on the 3 pin plug with the pink cable not plugged in.

To program the device, press and hold a paper clip or other long pointy item in the transmitter programming switch for 2 seconds.

Press the Unlock button on the remote. Wait for the unit to beep and flash once.

Press the Lock button on the remote. Wait for the unit t beep and flash twice.

wait 10 seconds and the unit will chirp 5 times and exit programming mode.
Plug the door lock switch back into the wiring harness.
