97-99 Red/Clear tail insert installation

I just bought 2 lenses cut to fit my 97's tails...they are designed to replace the stupid orange signal lens. While removing the taillight, I could not remove 2 small white clips from the unit properly after all wiring and bulbs were removed. If anyone has done this mod by switching the lenses, please tell me if this is a sure way to go, and how on earth those white plastic pieces are removed. The directions call for me to place the taillight in the OVEN. Is that REALLY necessary? Please give me some help on this stuff.

Just did mine last night. Pull really hard on the clips, they will come off. BE CAREFUL with the oven! I think I bowed mine, they were in for 10 mins on 215, i'd say go 200. And also, watch when pulling apart, i got ancy and cracked the corner of my lens.
