Sounds like bad luck for the both of us. I got into a wreck with my 96 this morning on route to work. I need a new passenger fender, headlight, turnsig. hood, and front bumper. Thing is.....there are a few parts under the bumper you don't see that if you don't replace things won't exactly line up they way the should. There are two brackets that hold the radiator and the top of the lights, then there is a metal beam between the two frame members. In any case it cost me 890 bucks for parts and then another 850 for painting and repairs. As i just learned not long ago that 97-99 bumper cover will fit. the orginal 96 goes for about 52.16 and the 97 and up is something like 89 bucks. A new fresh face for 45 bucks seems like a deal. Try doing a google search for "maxima parts",,,,this place i found was something like nissanautobodyparts.com....err...something like that. But thats how i found it. Good luck.

I had a friend who wrecked his maxima like that... ended up as $9k damage... but all OEM parts.
Be careful w/ the aftermarket bumpers... on the right side, it is not properly fit and there's a little bit more space than it's suppose to be where the bumper meets the headlight.
