I needed a new filter bad for my intake, because it was so dirty it didn't even come clean when I cleaned it. For the same price as a stock one, I got a larger filter that should stay cleaner longer and flow more air when dirty. You can see in the pic the size difference, and what my old one looked like. BTW, I ran my 14.4@98mph on that dirty filter right there. I might pick up a tenth from the new one...lol.

I need a new filter too... i'm not sure about the sizes tho. I'm guessin w/ new filters, we'll need a new adapter?

btw, did you make your own heatshield? i'm thinking of doin it.. not sure what material to use tho.

No, I bought one specifically to fit the 6 inch opening of the JWT venturi adapter. Yeah, my ghetto heat shield is a plastic roof vent from Lowe's. Works great.

How long does it take to recharge my k&n?

drying it out is what makes it take so long...

i've recharged my filter but it did no good... or i did'nt apply the oil right. whatever it is, my filter still looks like crap and it's time it needs replacement after like 100k+ miles lol

Better yet where did you buy the filter? I probably need one before too long, and out of all the mods out there I never see replacement filters.

first you go to this website and find the exact size that you need. It shows you how to measure.

they do not list a 1013. they list a 1010 that is 4" long and a 1017 that is 8" long.

It is a closed end. I don't really like the inverted cone design, because I think it causes turbulence in the intake. The JWT adapter is a venturi cone, which works great at getting the air in smoothly.

I didn't really notice a difference in sound. The engine can only flow the same amount of air, regardless of filter size. The other filter was big enough for the engine, I just got a larger one to flow more air longer when its dirty. If anything it sounds more refined at high rpm.

I forgot to mention that my gas mileage has gone up dramatically, so I know that the filter was in bad shape. I can't wait to go back to the track now. I just wish there was still cool weather.

Hmmmm...i tried to find a replacement for the JWT before and did all the measurements and none of the ones from K&N seemed to work. Well, I'll try the one you got, by any chance how much you pay for yours? Thanks.

those stainless steel air filters work the best in my opinion, never need recharging blah blah lol

i had mine on my 240 for 55000 miles and had no issues at all, so im stickin with it for the max
