A friend of mine has a 98 GLE and his seats have a more comfortable backrest and much more pronounced cushioning for lateral support compared to my 95 GXE. It felt so much nicer to sit in.

Did the GLEs back to '95 have better seats than the other models or did Nissan make an across the board improvement in 1998?

 

Does the '98 have side airbags? That may account for the added support as I've noticed the shape of the backrest is a little bit different.
