How to Wire Auto Dim I30 Rear View Mirror in 97?

I just got a rear view mirror out of a 99 I30 and was wondering what are the 3 wires that are going in it? Power.. ground..? Any help on HOW TO install it in the max will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

sorry for not knowing the answer to your question...but I have a question of my own. Does the mirror mount in the same location as the maxima rearview mirror?

are you going to wire this through the sunroof control/dome light panel?

Ossamah.. as a COMPLETE GUESS, one is power, one ground, and one goes to the accessory wire to activate with the car being on. I'm really not sure but it can't be too hard to test.

If Vyrus is wrong, another possibility is 12V+, Gnd, and Lights. When the headlights are on, power is sent to the 3rd, unknown wire, telling it that "its nighttime" and "its ok to dim the mirror". Just a wild guess.

Max4Speed, do you have a 12V powersupply? You could always hook the two 'known' wires up to that, and then play with the 3rd one. shine a flashlight at it and see if it dims. most likely it wont since the 3rd unknown wire is unattached. you could then try to hook that wire to a 12V and see if the mirror now responds to light. then you know the 3rd wire accepts 12V to tell it when it should 'look for light' to dim. just makesure you set the powersupply current as low as it will go so you don't damage internals. IF the 3rd wire tells the mirror when it can and can't dim if bright lights are on, it probably doesn't matter where you hook that to. just set it to the ACC in the sunroof or something. it will just be dimming whenever it detects bright light in it, regardless of other conditions.
if it doesn't dim when you hook 12V+ to the 3rd wire and shine a light at the sensor, try to slowly increase the current, but don't go very high or you make overheat and damage something.
I'll try to think of more ways to test for the 3rd wires "use".

Thanks alot guys. I was looking at it again and it has 4 wires. Red (12V), Black (GND). Green and Blue. As far as I know isnt there a standard color for the Blue and Green wire in the maxima?
