What exhaust system?

I am looking at new exhausts since the OE one is rusting to pieces. What should I get? I want something that sounds good and gives good performance increase but not too loud. I have a '96 Auto. I was looking at the Cattman or Warpspeed Y-Pipes(Heard stillen was too expensive and no better), Random Hi-Flow cat or Warpspeed, And the Greddy Catback.
What else is there and what does everyone have on their cars. How does it sound.
Thanks

budget y, custom 2.5 inch b and i wouldn't get the greddy very expensive. i think you just pay for the sound and name. try a SS Magnaflow muff....

Do not, I repeat do not get a Random Technology Cat. They are way over priced and they fall apart after a few months.

hi flow cats in genreal are kinda pointless...
either use a racing straight pipe or go with stock cat...
no HP gain on a max from a RT cat, it will brake and is inferior to you stock cat.

i have an apexi cat-back and love it. looks really good (not too gotty or ricey) and the sound is definitely nice, not loud at all. although i have a magnaflow on my gmc sonoma truck and it sounds good too. i don't know how the apexi will sound with a y-pipe but i'd imagine louder. my .02

You should go with a Budget Y-pipe for $180 shipped, And an Apexi WS catback for $385 from www.adventon.com That should give you a nice tone without being too loud and annoying. Forget about getting a cat unless yours needs to be replaced, you will see no gains from it.

Thanks guys for the help. Still undecided though. Looked at stock Cat's and they are just as much as the Randoms/Warpspeeds. The Y-Pipe was $250 from budget? not that good a deal

recommendation: Dynomax SuperTurbo muffler 17748

around 60 shipped.
adds deep sound. No rice noise. Similar noise to 350Z noise. real good.

This is a great muffler, It's not ricey loud or annoying..no drone whatsoever, and I got mine for 42 bucks..It'll make your car sound nice and deep, like a nicely tuned car. I'll try and get some sound clips today. I have mine paired with a Budget Y

Advance/discount auto parts sells them...They should have the one you need in stock, if not it takes 1 day for you to get the muffler...

With the ypipe, is it a deep loud inside or outside? I want something that has a deep mellow tone, like a stock G35c or 350Z.

Its deep and mellow both inside and out, it gets pretty aggressive sounding during WOT..

I went out right after posting to get soundclips...the tone is so low, the clips did it no justice,..it is very low, and mellow growl. Its not a whisper, but it's not a roar. The soundclips didn't come out even after I amplified them. Plus it's incredibly windy here today, so there was a lot of wind noise, I will try again later.
