HELP!!!! Wife's mad...real MAD!!!(sorry long)

ok, for the last few week, the max feel funny when try to start em. it turn over a few time but wont start. it need a feel try, around 5 and it started. my wife told me she hit the gas peddle and turn the key, sometime it start without problem and sometimes it need a few turn.

well, when i drove the max, it doing fine on her so i dunno...maybe the max's picky on who's driving.

anyway, one day while on the stop light, the max die on me, it's weird, there's prentty on gas on the gauge and i remember i just fill it up full tank, WTF...
well, try to start it, it turn but wont start. turn the key on/off a few time and the max try to turn over but still it wont start. finally it start after 7 tried. wtf??
the battery look fine to me, is it the starter???

ok, today Sunday, wife need to go work early in morning 4.30am the max doing o'rite. she stopped to pick up something and the max dont start, she try and tries...and tries... it just click this time, yeap...JUST CLICK... once whenever she turn the key. she called me and i went to check on it to see wtat's goin on, yeap,i try it and it just "click". i found the click sound coming under/next to the air-box, so i presume it's the starter. she's **** cos she's late to work.

i tried again and it still "click" after 12 tries and finally on it turn, very weak and wont start. tries again and it just click...
and finally it turn over and start... kind of ****ed me off.

i drove it home and took the starter off, went to Autozone and got a replacement. well, everything went on well till i started the max, so far so good, it turn over and start but when i kill it, i notice some weird noise coming from the starter, WTF??? i start the max and shut it off again, the noise's still there. it sound like power antenna.

pls help... wife's unhappy and we're about to use the max for vacation, trip from TN to FL on first week on July.

all opinions,inputs/outputs and helps will be greatly appreciates.

spec; stock 95 Max with 143k miles on it.

from my experience all aftermarket parts suppliers have a history with bad starterts and alternaters ...... go to the dealer and get the high torque starer ... that should take care of it

check the remote wire running to the antenna. when you relaced it you might have wired the remote wire up wrong and it's activating some circuit.

anyway, it sounds like you need a new starter. aftermarket starters are fine, mine has been a year and still starts great. it is also not too difficult to install. good luck. what other languages do you speak?

If the car died while it was moving, i believe he said that then its not the starter, If the car died at a light or something like that with the car on i'd say its the battery, or your alternator not charging the battery, especially if when you try to start it theres only a clicking noise.

95BNM, once you get your car started and running drive to Sears and have them check your electrical system. They'll test your battery, alternator, starter, and regulator. I believe it's still free, if not it shouldn't be that expensive. Good luck man.

ah, yes, alternator or, slim possibility, a battery that is not keeping a charge. you checked the water levels in your batt lately?

battery leads

Pull your battery leads off and pour a little Coke on them and watch it eat away some corrosion. Yes Coke(the real "soda"), it works trust me I had a weak system and it died on me a couple of times and after cleaning terminals on battery and battery leads it worked fine! Kinda make you wonder what all that phosphoric acid, carbonated water, and caffeine does inside your body huh!

Yeah i doubt its just corrosion but its possible, also if you do notice and corrosion after you poor some coke on it, wipe it clean then put some vasiline on it before putting the connectors back on, it conductions electricity just fine and it'll stop corrosion from ever coming back.

i had a problem like this on my 95, the dealer replaced the starter, it was ok for a few days, but then it started again. since the work was warranted, they took a look at it again and it turned out to be the starter kill on the alarm, they swapped that out and i didnt have anymore problems

I agree with hairris, check the battery leads first. I would clean them with baking soda and water. I have heard coke works as well but I have never tried it.

Defenetly the alternator if it just turns off by it self, How many miles do you have? They usually die after 80k if its aftermarket

For the dumdasses disrespecting 95BDM, get a life. Just by reading his post I knew he was multilingual. Some of you are quick to make a joke out of someone instead of helping and I won't tolerate it. Maybe I should start banning people for posting dumb ****!

95BDM, it sounds like your Alernator and battery may have a problem. Please get those things checked.

It has to be the alternator or battery for it to die while driving. I would check those out first, if those are OK. I would look to the fuel delivery i.e. fuel pump. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

I think it's the alternator as well, didn't want to say so in my first post. I don't want to lead anyone the wrong way and spend a ton of $$ and it not be the problem... since I'm just a n00b at auto mechanics.

deezo, I meant no disrespect... I have a lot of friends who are international students so I instantly knew it was his second language.

It's all good. We have a lot of people who would like questions answered about fixing their Maximas and don't post because of stuff like this. One thing to keep in mind, they can laugh at us about stuff too.
