Did any of you have a hard time getting your clear corners to snap in? I bought the Courtesy clears and when I put them on it didn't feel like they were locking in place like the OEM's. I tried putting tape around the stud and this worked for a while but I wasn't satisfied with how it felt. After having one pop out while driving last night, I looked at the old one to see what was different. It looked like the original stud stuck out just a hair more. Basicly what I ended up doing was backing the stud out about 1 to 1 and 1/2 turns so it would seat better. Now they snap right in place and feel like the originals.

what i did

i got this off of a website called "how 2 mod your max"
you don't use the new snap on peice but you go under the fender wall and screw the new peice in from behind..so they are not able to be popped right off like before..so nobody can take them..works real well..a bit tricky to screw in blindly like that though..check out that website...

I feel ya man. I remember when I put in my clear corners. I just popped them in, ya they were a little loose but they'll stay in. Wrong, I must have driven around town for thirty minutes with the lenses hanging off my bumper like a christmas ornament. I felt like such a dumbass when I got home and saw it. I hopped on the computer and did exactly what BlackMax62 did. It prevents theft as well as vibration. Requires a little work, but it's well worth it.

I've been reading about putting on clear corners here on maxiam.org for a while and have heard these things about it:

1. Put the parts from your original lights on. They will make it snap in right.

2. Don't put them in with screws from behind, because when someone tries and fails to get em out they will scratch up your car. A couple posters said they'd rather go get more clears than to fix any damage done by a theif.

(it really pays to do a search on a subject or just lurk a lot - many of the A.s to your Q.s are right here on the board)

My posting from another post:

You know what you gotta do to fix that? Take a very long screwdriver (I used the one that comes with the jack in the back of the car, one of the pieces has a screwdriver tip), and look down from the top of the engine compartment and you should be able to see the backside of that white plastic piece. Take that screwdriver, and use it to push on the backside of the piece, while you shove the clear corner in. You should feel some sort of snap, when it finally fully seats itself. Then give the corner a little tug, just to make sure it really is seated.
