How much is max HP for VQ30DE engine?

Anyone have an approximate maximum that the VQ30DE engine can be pushed before it blow and just cant handle it? What is the most HP anyone has gotton out of their modded VQ30DE engine on the Dyno? Just curious... kind of wondering how far I can expect to push my engine without distroying it.

Thanks,

Keith

i know there was a guy out there with a turbo that pushed 400+ HP. im pretty sure he had the dyno sheet to prove it too.

I'll tell you this, I don't think anyone on here has every performance mod for their VQ30DE equipped car.. that includes possibly a Turbo with some small shot of NO2 and every maximizing engine internal possible. Include every other HP gain mod.... and then think about the possibility of somehow doing twin turbo or turbo + supercharger + no2 (as unrealistic as that all may be)

I think the VQ's threshold might be around 480-500 at the wheels... if it's ever possible to get it there. If you don't know the VQ 110%, or are not a VQ pioneer, or don't have a lot of money to foolishly spend trying to push the VQ when you can invest and get a G35 coupe or something nice, then I doubt you'll ever get past the 350fwhp mark

I have faith that the VQ is a mighty fine engine... but what do I know, I connected my intake to a bag of sand once...

No I didn't :P

port and polish? hehe

The VQ doesn't have the potential of the RB26DETT, but it holds it own, expect 4-500HP fully maxed, i'm talkin new bottom and top end, and boostin 12psi+

There was an article somewhere that said nissan tested the VQ30 to full power, somewhere around 525hp and then the block cracked. Im too lazy to search it, but thats I guess the max potential.

i agree wit the 400+ hp. I seen someone here pushing 450 i believe or very close to that but i think all engines are different depending on how they were cared for. One engine may pop a piston or something at 350 hp, another may go up to 500...thats my hypothesis

Hard to tell considering tuning is everything. Run low boost to the tune of 300hp and lean it out and bye-bye engine.

There is a lot more to consider besides mechanical stress. The engine is designed for a certain amount of heat load to generate the power. For example; 200HP will amount in a certain level of thermal expansion for the valves, sleeves, pistons, rings, etc. Adding boost/heat will shorten the life of the engine or at least reduce the safety margins for the components. The cooling system flow and capacity should be enhanced along with the addition of superchargers or turbos.

A much less stressful way to boost power is through the exhaust system.

Is that in a 3.0L or VQ with higher displacement?

3.5, 3.0 block is the same, so stress points should be the same.

Re: How much is max HP for VQ30DE engine?

Just remember that what it can push on the dyno, and what it can push on a track are very different things. On a dyno, you can push a higher hp before the motor blows than you can on the streets. 1000 lb rollers are a lot less load on the motor than the car's own weight, or say a hill.

depends what the car would be used for - drag runs only? no prob, fill the water jackets with high temp epoxy and use a copper headgasket, but usable as a streetcar? not without WATER in those waterjackets
