I get the code 0504. It translates to "A/T control module or circuit fault" (Hayes book) or "Automatic Transmission Control Unit Signal to ECU" on the vbxmaxima.com site.
I have absolutely no idea what that means or where to start. It doesnt say anything about it in the book.
Any and all help appreciated

 

It basicaly means that the Transmission Control Module and the ECU are not able to communicate. There may be something wrong with your TCM that prevents it from sending and receiving signals from the ECU

 

does anyone have info on changing that out, or can it even be done? I dont even know what a TCM is or where I could find it on the car. Like I said, there isnt anything in the book about it

 

The TCM is actually on top of the ECU. Both are located behind a panel to the right of the gas pedal. The TCM is a little more difficult to see though...... Just remove the panel, and you will see the ECU, then you will see the TCM on top of that, just move some wires out of the way, and its there......
