whats this part on the front end?

I have a 99 I30. Rotating tires today i noticed on the left front wheel, attached to the rotor/caliper assembly and behind the wheel bearing and below the level of the tie rod end, a large bolt about 1/2 diameter sticking inward from the rotor assembly. Had a head on it and was attached at the rotor / caliper by a nut. almost looked like something to control the turning radius / prevent tight turns. It stuck inward several inches. same on other side . never seen this on other cars
help

what is it?

If I understand what you are describing, you are correct. Does it have a nylon head? I don't think it's there to keep you from making tight turns, it's there to keep you from bending the CV joints too far.

Mine is attached to the bottom of the "Knuckle" (The hunk of metal that the axle sticks through) but is nowhere near several inches long... more like 1 or 1.5 inches long. I have a 95 Max, so it could be a different design or I could be just wasting server bandwidth.

Your Toyota is obviously inferior to your I30

i agree.
but it has a lot of good points too!!!!!!!!!!!
( Infiniti came mis aligned from the factory - dealer could not/ would not fix it - private mech did. Bose head unit died, then bose changer died. A/C not as strong as on the toyota.)
toy still has original pads, and muffler at 107 k -- amazing.
