Track tested 3" Micron Filter

With all the stuff going around about intakes I thought I would post a pic of my latest setup. Actually it has been on for over a month or so.

So far nothing over 3 inches in diameter has been injested by the engine. All else has been properly digested and disposed of.

If I can design one for the other side I am going to call them HID's, although the lighting is not that great.

Think I can do it on a 150. I only had one run and it was pretty warm by then and I was getting a lot of wheelspin after the 60'. Need to lower the pressure a little more, remove my rear seat and try again on a bit cooler, less humid day.

Don't think anything higher than 150 is in the cards, at least my cards.

i like the intimidation factor, you got to wonder how fast a guy is whos running with only one headlight so he can have a cai.

Re: Track tested 3" Micron Filter

I'm confused. Are you running a filter? Looks like its just a intake horn. How did you turn the battery sideways? Looks like a good setup.

Hey Zummer there is no filter. It just filters out objects larger than 3". What I meant to say was that the microns are 3" in size. I only use it at the track.

Ricefob I only do a part throttle torque and yes full throttle on launch, thats why I use slicks, thats the whole secret. I tried a 35 shot on street tires and ran a 15.1, on slicks a 13.1. Gotta have traction.

thx ::sigh:: i guess i never attempt full throttle at launch, cuz i'm really afraid to lost traction and spin out, and people will look at me weird on the street...

AHH!! 3" Micron =P I feel like the dude that gets the joke 5 minutes after everyone else. Hehe. Too bad the setup isn't streetable. Doesn't look like there is any room to put the headlight back on. Maybe a new CAI option if you made the pipe bend down? I'm still liking the sideways battery idea.

This is my street setup. Still gets lots of air from around the headlight but not as good as when its removed of course.

Looks good! Are you going to consider selling the setup? Show us how your battery is mounted! =)

Na, I only spend money. Pretty simple to do anyway, you can buy 3" aluminum bent in different configurations from Vibrant or other sources and just cut to fit. The couplers are pretty much available at many sources too.

The battery is just the stock holder turned sideways and a couple of new holes drilled in the holder and back into the stock mounting holes in the chassis. I did put one angle support from the bottom to support the outer edge because it is kinda stickin in the space between the rad and block. Haven't got a pic, its dark down there.

Jime, I was curious, do you think having the you nos setup closer to you engine improves performance vs say having the bottle in the trunk. I mean if it takes .1 seconds after hitting the button for nos to enter your engine I would think every inch closer helps. just wondering.

If purged properly it wouldn't make any difference because the cold nitrous is right at the solenoid. No purge, yes big difference.

My main reason was to have a cheap bottle opener (my right arm) and to lose less nitrous when closing and bleeding the system. My main nitrous line is a 6' gauge line so its nice and short.

Damn if you do break into the 11's that is going to be a slap to the face for Marti. I mean you have spent how much, like a little less than 2 grand right? And he has spent much more on a supercharger, bigger throttle body, MEVI, ECU, ect and will run similar times as you.

I don't think he would consider it a "slap in the face." Actually, I think he will be happy to see other owners hitting low times.

Mardi went about his setup completly differently. He has pioneered a lot of ideas and new parts (more upcomming) and the .org is definatly better with his ideas floating around.

Not to take anything away from Jim, of cource

Yeah not that he would be ****ed at Jime or anything just that Jime should be able to get their spending much less $. Mardi was also running a much smaller shot of nitrous right? Isnt he working on built VQ right now?

Why not just put a pair of pantyhose or some other similar material to filter out larger things like sand grains, small pebbles, MEVI screws, etc.

Hey Casey, just wanted you to know those K1's are working great and look good on there with my slicks.

They even go with the Millenia wheels I have on the rear, same design.
