Need help! Auto trans fluid in 96 Max

Both dealers I called said I needed to use Nissan trans fluid. The Haynes manual says Nissan-Matic "D" auto trans fluid. Problem is that it costs $5.32 from the dealer. I have right at 100k miles so I see no point in switching to synthetic. A post in the "Maintainence" forum suggested Mobil 1 ATF but didn't recommend any conventional trans fluids. Do the auto parts stores sell any fluid compatible with the Nissan trans?

What's up Mr. Steele!
Check this, it might help. As long as it meets the spec I believe you can use whatever. Lots of guys here are using synthetics also. This is for a 3-gen but might apply to 4th gens also:

Hey Jeff, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if I should use the DexronIII or not.
