95-96 red/clears

hey guys, i really want to get myself some red/clears for my 96, but i know they are a pain to get. I was wondering if anyone had any, or just the clears so i could make my own. If not, i read on Vqpower.com that u can make ur own with the stock ones by using Red Translucent Vinyl Tape sheets (http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=41) but i cant find any anywhere. Does anyone know where to get it, or has any? Thanks alot
Brendan

hmmmm......I don't know which one has better odds, you finding yourself a pair of 95-96 Red/Clears or you winning the lottery. Good Luck.

8500 High Performance Translucent.. if you follow the appropriate links you can request for a sample sheet which is about 1x1' of red sheet, and they also provide a color chart of all the colors they have.

I have a crazy idea, i see thatthe orange on the 9695 lights is just a thin part at the edge, is there any chance this can be buffed away or somehow remover, has anyone mess around with these lights.

The orange is not some kind of coating. The plastic itself is orange.

I do remember a post by 'Maxipad96' a year or two ago about him dremeling the orange out leaving a tint clear lens at the very edge of the assembly..

I'm sure someone has come across this point before but... If these half-*** companies can create these god-awful looking altezza lights, how come they can't provide us with a classy looking red/clear? Uhgg.. My next max will have to be 97 and up

Tell me about it. I still regret having sold my full clears, instead of painting and installing them.

Itd probably be easier to just convert the rear. Maybe you can swap your rear for a 97-up rear at the junkyard...worth a try...

OK,
I dislike the orange too. I've sprayed my lenses with Krylon 'stained glass' paint (red color). They look very good but may be a bit dark under direct sunlight, perhaps I'll do a few less coats 'next time'.
Others have done a similar job and have posted in the last few weeks (red and smoked). Use the search...I'm too lazy to.
Cheers,
Matt

No you do need the bumper because the trunk comes down more on 97+ , i have seen it forced on but it looks dumb, and regardless its not worth the money even without the bumper.

The closest match on the color chart that I see would be either 031 red or 017 cherry red.

The best way is to just pay the money ($250+ if people will let them go). You could offer me $1,000 right now and I wouldn't sell them go. The ones that match the best were done by David L. But theres no way to prove he did them other than trust the seller.

Are you sure? I asked someone on the org and he said all he did was use the 97 trunk lid. Has anyone else done this?
