Just bought an MEVI...have a question re: ECU

My car is a 99.5 automatic. I am wondering if I can have my ECU reprogrammed by JWT or G-Force (sp?) so that I don't need the RPM switch? I just figure it might make for a more reliable set up since some people have had their Harlan flake out on them from time to time.

As far as I know, JWT and GForce can't reprogram ecu's older than 96. I don't even think you can put a 96 ECU in your 99.5. It may be possible with some type of daughter board. But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for GForce or JWT to come out with a board for this.

Yeah, no ECU's for 99's really blows.

I thought I read somewhere that someone (Nealoc maybe?) that said they talked to JWT and JWT told him that programming the ECU for the MEVI RPM switchover was extra $$. This made me think that this type of programming might be a possibility on all 4th gen Maximas.

I think he may have meant having JWT tune the ECU to the VI switch over. But I could be wrong. But that sounds more likely to me.
