Timing Chain knocking noise :(

hey all, there has been a noise from the left side of the engine bay(belts area) it is a light knocking noise that can only be heard with the hood open,,,,,,i took to auto zone and they said its the tensioners wearing out so its hitting the chain.

oh ya i have 86-87000 miles
also y did hte chain parts ware out so quick?

I have 154000 miles and my chains make that noise now too. Thank god i picked up another motor to build up and put in.
