auto tranny oil change questions

I noticed the max has a drain plug on the tranny. I know auto's hold alot of the fluid internally. Would i have to do a few changes to get a decent oil change ?

I've also read about power flushing an older auto. Not reccomended.
What is power flushing ? Is it the system where you have the canister of tranny fliud and they disconnect the tranny line and put this in line ? Then the car is idled untill the change is done ? Or is it some kind of forced system ?

My 96 gle has 125km on it (78 miles).

Any suggestions ?

I bought the car a month ago, called the dealer and they said the last time they had the car in was at 60km. I don;t know if the 96km sevice was done as no-one can tell me. I'm assuming not being that it was traded in a t 120km.

Any suggestions and advice welcome

I'm planning on a tranny cooler soon too. And when i get motivated i'll put the wps y in.

Thanks , martin

well ill tell you this, i got the vb mod for my car and when putting it in about 5-6 quarts came out. well ive had problems with the vb whether from my fault or someother reason, since then the tranny pan and vb has been dropped about 3 times. by this time all my fluid is brand new, nice and red.

so where all this is going if you drain the pan a few times over a week or so, you should get a fair amount of it. keep in mind the mobil 1 that i use is 30$ for 6 quarts

so to make a short story long, yes i would imagine that several changes would do the trick

good luck

I power flushed mine by taking ATF oil return line loose and pumping old ATF into old oil containers. Took old ATF fluid to Advance Auto for recycling. It took 10 quarts for everything. I also flushed power steering pump as well. I am using AMSOIL Synthetic ATF in transmission and power steering pump. Using AMSOIL 0W-30 Synthetic Oil in motor. Noticed big difference in noise reduction and transmission shifting. Motor is also very quiet.
