Accessories Belt help

Ok, my old belt was all cracked, so I got a new gates belt to replace it. The reason I replaced the old one was that it hisssed all the time.. So I talked to my mechanic and he said I needed a new belt. So now that I have the new belt on it does that Squeel noise for about a second and goes away. What is wrong?

Please help

Is it loose? It shouldnt deflect too much or it would most problem squeek. Make sure.

Have it tightened some more, just to the point that it doesn't squeal on a cold startup. If tightened too much, it will wear out the bearings in your accessories.

Sometimes you'll be able to hear the bearings in the accessories being "strained" (don't know how else to explain it). You should recognize it when you hear it. There will also be very little deflection in the belt. I adjust mine till there is a little squeal, then tighten gradually till there isn't any.

My belt has always squealed when the weather is wet or humid at startup. If I keep it in the garage it is fine. I've been told this is just a trait of serp belts. I used to spray the belt with belt dressing, but if it was wet the belt would squeal with or without the dressing. The only time it does this is first thing in the morning. Sound familiar?
