Whoa...you sure you cut 1 coil in front and back? I cut 1/2 coil in front and 1 coil in the back and I think it looks fine. The front can stand to be lower by 1/4" but I like the way it looks now. If you cut a full coil from the front, then the front of you car would be slammed. Are you on stock rims? If not, how big are they? The place you took it to did something wrong, I'm almost positive. The only reason my car looks lower in the rear is because of the way Nissan cut the wheel wells in the car. I measured the ground clearance in between the wheel wells and it was perfectly even. It also kind of sounds like they didn't cut the springs in front at all if you have a 3 finger gap. Maybe the guy misheard you and thought you didn't want the fronts cut and just cut the rears. Hope everything works out man.

1/2 finger gap in the rear and 1 finger gap in the front. The bigger gap in the front is good for me because that keeps me from rubbing when the steering wheel is fully engaged.

Oh, and what part of Cali you from? If you're in SoCal around Orange County you can take it to the shop I go. They'll do things right the first time.

Not too low at all. When the car is packed with luggage, my tires become flush with the body. I haven't had a problem with it being that low yet, but we'll see after the body kit goes on.

Oh wow, you're pretty close to me. I'm in Irvine. But the shop is in La Habra. It's called Premier Autoworks. I've already referred several people to them and they are all happy customers. The address is 901 E. Lambert Rd. Their phone number is (562) 691-0323. Speak to Kennedy for body work and mechanical stuff. Speak to Anne about ordering parts if you ever order through them. Tell them Dennis with the gold Maxima sent you (they'll get a good laugh). But yeah, they'll hook you up good.

Well, if you have time tomorrow early afternoon, I can show you my car in person. I have a flight leaving at 6 to Utah so I can't do it at night. But if you want to see it or if you're curious about the ride, I don't have $hit to do tomorrow. My cell is (949) 683-2885.

Someone on this forum a few weeks ago said Pep Boys has rubber spring spacers. They will make the ride a little stiffer.

I don't get it. Why do people want to cut aftermarket springs? They are designed that way for a reason. It definitely screws up the ride quality and handling after you cut them. If it's mainly for looks, why not go with Intrax or Spint?

Have you ever personally ever cut a set of aftermarket springs or are you just repeating what you have heard? If you know what you are doing and know how low you want to go and know the limit of the springs you are cutting, it will be fine. My ride isn't bouncy at all. I didn't lose any ride quality. I lost more ride quality by getting 18's than cutting the Eibachs. I just find it incredibly frustrating that people keep saying "don't cut Eibachs, they're progressive" and blah blah blah.

I just don't see the point in cutting them when there are lower ones available. Why do you think Eibach's have Sportline spings? Do you think they cut the Pro Kits and sold them as Sportlines? Sprints lowers the Max about 2" and is cheaper than Eibachs. Why would you want to spend more for Eibach's just so you can cut them? Doesn't make sense.

Well, I would have gone Sprints, but I got the Eibachs way before the Sprints were out. And last time I checked, they don't have Sportlines for Maximas and I was looking for something stiffer. I would have gone coil-overs but I heard a lot of bad things about the Cattman ones and they were really expensive. Ground Control and Intrax just don't cut it for performance. I originally wasn't going to cut the springs, but my mechanic assured me that the ride wouldn't change, so I listened to him and he was right.

Yes, that would make sense then. You were looking for a good performance with a low drop, but there weren't any at the time. Intrax are definitely too soft and Sportlines are not available for the Max. That's too bad. If Eibach made Sportlines for the Max, they probably would've sold pretty well.

I have read tons of articles on this procedure, almost all of which do NOT recommend it. I have discussed this with mechanics and car owners alike, most of whom have seen too many examples of spring-cutting gone awry. I have seen cars with poorly cut/torched springs, rubbing tires, and extreme camber and toe. I have ridden in cars like these, too, and the ride was... just bad.

Almost all sources I have seen/heard on this topic include warnings. The loudest voice against spring-cutting seems to come from those who have had their springs cut, too! Hmm...

Spring-cutting can cause a car to end up looking peculiar. It can also cause a car to acquire very dangerous handling characteristics. You may not become aware of the dangerous handling characteristics until a critical situation causes the defect to reveal itself. Whoops, too late... SMACK!

With all due respect, since compelling evidence against the procedure abounds, why did you do it? The only smart thing to do now is to install a new set of springs. That seems to be the most common repair procedure, anyway! Good luck.

I just fixed this problem, but it was with the help of my Koni's. . . When the Eibachs on my car were installed, the rear was at 1 finger between the wheel and the well, and the front was like 3 fingers. It looked really bad, so my friends and I today put the Koni's on the highest setting, and now the car is even. . . While there is still 3 fingers between the wheel and the well, I prefer it this way as the city I live in has really ****ed up driveways and my *** was always hitting something. . . The rear also now seems to handle better than it was. . .

I am confused, how do Koni's "raise" the car some? I thought their dampening was the only thing that was adjustable. I have Tokico's and my rear sag some, but not much.

I didn't cut mine at all. . . They are installed as they came in the package. . . I know when people have cut the fronts it has dropped below 3 fingers, but the rear sagging is a typical problem I guess, unless I have something wrong with my springs.

As for the Konis. The rears have two seperate heights that you can set them at. It is about 1/4-1/2 of an inch higher, but it did raise my rear from 1 finger to 3 fingers, I thought mine was sagging because of the stereo stuff in the rear, but I really think it isthe springs now. I am glad I got the Konis, because having the car look like that bothered me a lot. The only thing I worry about is how the Koni's are adjusted, it doesn't seem that well designed as the rig fits into a notch in the strut, and it looks like it could fall out easily, which is why I didn't do it in the first place.
