Starting Problems

Clea throttle, new spark plugs, new oil filter. First start always hardest..just doesn want to start...crank crank crank..car shakes doesn't turn over. I'm at a loss..after several successfull starts and car has been running a while..subsequent starts aren't a problem. Only code i get is a evap canister valve 1008...any ideas?? I can't sell it to get a 02 maxima if it's not starting right

Creanshaft position sensors, check both REF and POS

As your car gets old, the signals get weak and your starts get harder and harder. They are magnetic pickups and tend to collect fine metalic dust on them. Try cleaning them off too before you replace them. That sometimes does the trick.

One is down under the lower pully the other looks at the flywheel it's under the car twards the front.

A Haynes manual is your friend.

yes it could be the starter both maximas that i had mechanics tried to give me all kind of problems that it could be and all I had to do was changed the starter and the car was fine. a lot of times even if you take the starter in to have it checked will check out ok that is because it is getting direct power with no loss in voltage but on the car if there is even a slight loss in voltage due to wiring length or any other reason and if the starter is not performing the way it should that could keep it from startting right. also for your evap code try resetting the ecu and see if you still have problems starting the car. the last major problem i had was my car would not go past 2000 rpm i reset the ecu and the problem went away and haven't had a problem since.
