Brembo Slotted and Drilled Rotors -- Shipping box broken -- UPD pics please help
I bought some brand new Brembo slotted and drilled rotors from an org member, and the outside box was damaged in shipment (I'm in canada -- damn border always kicks my parcels ). It's insured if needed, however I'm looking at the brembo's and they look to be in good shape. One has a minor scuff (really fine surface scratch not big) near one of the bolts hardly noticeable. What should I be looking for? I don't see any cracks, what is the best method to ensure the rotors are alright? Could they be warped or lose some structural integrity and can I tell by looking at them?
Thanks,

Btw- on a side note, these are Maxima rotors, they will fit my 98 infiniti the same right? Someone mentioned the brake pads are different -- I hope not the rotors aswell doh..

Update - what the hell is this? one side of it looks like it's been machined in the middle .. does that look right? I doubt it was from shipping it looks machined that way .. is that normal?
Plus my other one looks like it has slight cracks in the middle of them .. here's pictures of both,
what do you guys think?
Thanks,

those aren't scratches, it's machined there (material is missing) .. and the last picture shows the cracks (not sure if it's bad tho), in the center, the little lines inside the material that both sides attach via .. is that normal? The other brembo doesn't look to have these cracks..

Well, have they been used before? Perhaps those rotors have been resurfaced. Brand new rotors don't need resurfacing, so I'm wondering why the vendor said that they've been resurfaced unless they've been used before (there's no such thing as balancing the rotors). You really can't pinpoint where each scratches or cracks came from if they've been used, as long as you don't see cracks on the rotor surfaces. Also, take them to a brake shop or auto part store and see if the thickness is still within specs. If they are less, then those rotors are as good as junk!

Well the rotors are brand new. I think the original org member bought them from the same GD you are talking about .. so it must be the same case. But in this picture (it's big):

you can see in the middle there's these lines through them. Is that dangerous? Is it normal? The other looks to have less of those lines so I'm thinking they may be structurally cracked perhaps .. Let me know whatcha think

I see what you are referring too, its the structural support inbetween the two rotor surfaces. There's like a line in the middle on each one. I've seen that before but not sure if it is safe. It's hard to say what it actually is but I'd take it to a brake shop specialist and have them take a look at it to see, they might be able to help you more. I've had cross-drilled rotors before and I've never seen those "cracks" before. Good luck.

My pa says it's normal, it's how they are casted together.
Can anyone show me pictures of the sides of their brembo's like my picture?
I want to see if others look like that .. they feel so solid I tend to agree with him, that it's just how they are casted together.
Thanks,
