polishing manifold
i am trying to polish my manifold mysely mostly because i am bored at work. so far i have been using 60grit and alternating with 150 grit and then 350 grit it is working i've gotten it too start too shine. any tips for me.

use 200, 400, 600, 800 , 1000, 2000 and then Mother Metal POlish for best results...
it takes time bu tis worth it... and anything less than 200 can score the metal and create the need for additional polishing just to correct what was done...
only other tip is keep the area clean...kee all electrical and all oxygen sensor connectors clean...

How do you do this? Do you just lift up the hood and start scrubbing it mess out of it after the engine is nice and cool ?

yes you got it...
move and separate with zip ties anything you can to expose teh flat surfaces...Dremel buffing wheels help as well on the machine marks originally left around curves and bolts.
