Dash kit Peeling!

My aluminum Dash kit(synthetic) has started to peel. Is this because of the sun? It isn't peeling away from the dash but from it's own 3M tape. It is peeling in the parts just above the clock and right on the sides of the guage bezel. I was wondering if anyone else has problems. Kit is Approx. 9 months old. Any epoxies or glue that would adher it back together?

You can always use superglue, you don't have to use too much, and it's relatively strong and clean.

This is what happens with synthetic kits since it's basically just plastic coated with epoxy resin. The heat from the sun causes the plastic to get really soft and warp sometimes. Not enough heat to melt it, but enough to cause the layers to start separating. Also, the kits will turn yellow in the sun sometimes.

Does the kit come off very easily? How bout the adhesive tape? How hard is that to get off? Will it come off very easily with alcohol?

Re: removal

The tape used on all these kits is pretty strong. It's going to require a lot of tugging, and a heat gun to get the pieces off. Then you'll need adhesive remover to help remove the tape remnants, alcohol won't do it.

i tuged mine off and then rubbed off the residue with my thumb, use mineral sprits or alcohol to take it off with a rag if you dont want a blister
