hey im new to the org and i bought a 97 max blk/blk se auto loaded with 68k miles...ok..so i was heading down LIE expressway coming back from work when all of a sudden my valentine fell off my windshield. So I pulled over to the side to put it back on. As I was going back onto the expressway, I accidentally shifted into 2 or 1 and accelerated hard to 60-65. I heard a loud grinding noise coming from under the parking brake area and smelled something burning. I freaked out and pulled over immediately. All confused and worried I first looked under the car for tranny leaking? If something fell out? Lose object? But I didn’t see anything wrong. I then popped the hood and checked tranny fluid but this too was ok. All puzzled and #$#* up, I sat back in the car. After about 10 minutes I started the car and put it in drive to see if everything was ok. I slowly let off the brake and the car moved fine…(no grinding and the smell went away). I got on the expressway accelerating slower than my granny and stayed under 25 till I took the next exit. As soon as I got home I put my car on heavy truck stands raising the front tires and strapped the car down to my garage floor. I accelerated the car up to 60 (not so safe) but the tranny shifted fine and was smooth the whole way. I took it for a test drive and it shifted fine and smooth. Did I do some serious damage? What do u think happened? Any sugg? I do my own basic car maintenance (oil..etc). and btw…the car is completely stock.

I thought spinning your wheels off the ground was a very bad thing to do. Doesn't the force of the wheel spinning make the tire expand and damage the sidewalls?? kinda like when a dragster lays rubber. just be careful with your baby.
