The only thing standing between me and saving $120 are four rusted bolts. I was hoping that I could get some tips on the best way to remove the intermediate pipe if I'm not successful at snaping/breaking the old bolts (the nuts may not be their original size after the rust crumbles, and I'm guessing that I won't be able to get a good wrench on them). It sounds simple, but it's the main reason that I vowed not to do any of the exhaust work myself. I heard the "spray some WD40" theory, but I've never had any luck with penetrating oil actually penetrating between the rusted nut and bolt.

How would a professional shop do the job? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Torch them till they glow red, they'll come off like butter.

 

As a typical DIYer, I don't have a welding torch. Will propane be hot enough? If not, is there another [small] bottled gas option?
