pics of M5 spoiler lip installed

just some pics of my new spoiler lip. wasnt entirely a direct fit part so I had to do some minor modifications for a good fit.

I think I'd really like it if there were no body kit or the Ionic side skirts were less chunky. The rear end looks out of balance.

that's the only qualm I have as well.. with the M5's and even the is300's they place the "spoiler" at the very edge of the trunk lid.

if it isn't too much trouble it would be interesting to see it relocated a little closer to the edge. props on the unique idea.

the thing is that the lip is slightly more curved than the maximas trunk. the middle of the lip is at the edge of the trunk but the sides curve more inward.

Before I agree...let me just say the work looks great and if the orig poster likes the look then he pulled it off _perfectly_.

I don't like it though. It just looks like there's a random bump on the trunk. I don't like huge polilers either, but I just don't think this groks with the look of the car.

One question does it work?

Overall, in my opinion, not to bad, but the curviness of the outer quarterpanels look too bare, if there were some way to add extra pieces to round out those corners to continue the lines of the lip spoiler,it might (I emphasize might) work better.

I thought so--once gave a 5 series a close look-over in comparison to a 4th gen Maxima, and noticed the Maxima has more of a straight cut trunk lid edge. I guess the lip couldn't be coaxed to conforming more?
Kudos for the effort, though. I like the way it looks, on its own! Personally, I find the Ionic rear bits don't go with it--I'd put something more subtle and streamlined to match the spirit of the BMW lip.

Actually I think the fact that it's not closer to the edge is what I'm not feeling. It's too bad it doesn't quite work out to put it closer. But, again, who cares what I think!

It may be subtle but the rest of the car definitely isn't It's much better than a foot tall ricer wing though. and unique too.

I'm not feeling it either. I think you should have kept the non-spoiler look. Then again, I'm biased.

IMO the edge of the Maxima trunk is too round for that lip spoiler. Very unique idea though

Lawrence the lip looks really good. If I were to put a different spoiler on my car, it would be one similar to the one you have, but maybe a little more flared in all directions. Great work!

BTW, on the Infiniti forums someone is selling the JDM Ceifero lip that's similar to that.

from the E39. btw its not the OEM part, more like the generic of the original. I believe the OEM one is slightly fatter but I wasnt willing to pay for the real one since I didnt know what was needed to be done to fit.

I had brought in trunk lip spoilers for the i30.. going on a question from a customer last night, I tried the 4th gen one on my Max. I have a spoiler so it was kind of awkward to position but the length looks good. It is somewhat flexible so it will conform to the shape of the trunk.. I need to find a spoilerless 4th gen in my area to test it further but it looks like it'll work..

MaxMoJo, those cefiro spoilers you bought might have to be modded the same way what I did since the I30 seems to have a flatter boxier trunk than the max. it should be able to fit with some work. I might actually buy one from you too later. you have pics of them yet?

There should not be much work involved. I'm not sure about the one you have but the ones I have are flexible so should conform to the shape of the Max's trunk.

what are yours made of? mine was ABS. Just by looking at them on your site, it seems to be the same product as mine. possibly same company, except yours was designed for nissan application(couple inches longer, and less curve). Mine was somewhat flexable to a point but it was because of the sudden curve at the ends of the lid which had to be heated to fit.
