Pilot bearing/bushing

The engine in my '95 GXE 5-speed is not original, and apparently came out of an automatic model. I am replacing the clutch now, and notice that the pilot bushing supplied with the clutch kit looks nothing like the one already in the crankshaft. The new one is just a small brass bushing, while the old one looks more like a real bearing. Should I use the new bushing, buy a bearing for an automatic, or leave the thing alone?
