drive axle seal- yes, I already searched

after reading dozens of posts about leaky trannys and other assorted things, my question remains. I've got a leak at the driver side axel seal of my 96 5sp. i've got no gear whine in any gear but reverse. can i just replace the seal? do i need to pull the entire tranny out to do this or just remove the half axle? thanks

You just have to remove the half axle then it is as simple as sliding the new seal in. Be careful not to push it too far in because there is nothing to stop it at all. Try using a piece of wood and tap it into the tranny until it is flush. Hope this helps.
