Need help! Oil Leaking (esp. enging rebuild guys)

My co-worker has a 95 Max. She has a leak coming from somewhere on her engine. Her mechanic (I think he's shady) told her that she needs some type of flex pipe and wants to charge $325. I usually know about cars and want to help but I have no clue what the he** the mechanic is talking about.

She's getting back in touch with him now to get a more specific explanation but I figure I'd check here to see if that sounds familiar to any of you. A bad flex pipe that is causing oil to leak or "drip" as her mechanic stated. Any ideas?

Need more info...

The flex pipe thing doesn't sound right. Unless it's a turbo oil drain...

That's what I'm thinking. In all of my days, I've never heard of a flex drain. No turbo on her car. Any other ideas?

Are you sure it is engine oil that is leaking? It might be power steering fluid. I think there is a flex pipe going to the pump. Mine is leaking now.

Yeah...that's what he told her. She confirmed she has to keep putting motor oil in. I didn't have time to look under the hood, but I saw the fresh oil stains. It's coming from the passenger side of the car...right about where the oil pressure switch is.

Has anybody heard of this 'flex' pipe for oil or is this mechanic a quack?

Check the oil pressure switch, it is known to leak on the 4th gens.

Also has her PCV valve been changed? My Max was using oil, changed the PCV and it is holding great.

I pretty much guarantee that one of these is the problem. If she see's oil under her car (put a white towel under the car at night) then it is probably the switch, if she does not it is probably the PCV. How many miles does she have and has she had the dealer do her 60,000 tune ups? My car is under warranty do I need a paper trail so I had to get the dealer to do the tune up, they DID NOT change the PCV valve which caused my problems (it was not in the list of things they were going to do, I would check.)

Hope this helps.
