oil in sparkplug wells

After checking what kind of plugs I have I discovered a nice little puddle of oil sitting along with my sparkplug and the boot was dripping it.... I figured I need a new seal... ok thats fine...

I need to know which seal it is? Only thing I can find is VALVE SEAL LEFT/RIGHT im guessing its the LEFT the oils in the wells is where the nissan cover is... not the intake.

Also I recently switched from regular dino oil to synthetic... 5w-30... Do you think that could be a cause? I dont see any regular oil in the wells I see the new synthetic that I put.

I've heard that switching to synthetic at high miles may cause some seeping. I think that you need a Valve cover gasket.

I've been using synthetic since I got my car 19k, and I just recently got oil on the tops of the plugs like you did. I did not have any oil on the plugs when I changed them at 56k, but I did find oil when I changed them at 63k From what I've gathered a little oil is ok and is relatively common. If you start to see more oil then you'll definitely need to replace the seals. I believe there's one seal for each plug and the seals are separate from the outer valve cover gasket.

I had that problem too @90K, I think Advanced Auto had it the cheapest, it had 2 outer seals and six grommets in a kit. After that all was well.

I just finished popping the rest of the plugs out... its only the first plug under the nissan cover... (the one closer to the timing chain) that has oil in it... the rest are bone dry... I havn't checked all 3 on the intake yet... do that another day.. screw this miami heat..
