IACV what does it do?

Sometimes when i put my car in reverse or drive or im just sitting at a red light it stalls. Sometimes the rpms bounce a little and then settle. Does the iacv control this or is it controlled by something else? Im just wondering if i should try another iacv or if the problem lies elsewhere.

it could be the problem, it controls the airflow at idle hence the name "idle air control valve" but usually if your iac is bad it will give you a mil

Clean your TB. Do a search on Clean TB and you should find instructions.

First thing you want to check is fuel/air filters. Then go ahead with the other prescriptions.

ANOTHER ONE LIKE ME!!!

I had this EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!! took me a year to properly diagnose.
search for threads started by me with "MAFS" or "Wiring" in them, and
you'll see my endless search to correct the problem.

As it turns out, the wiring to the MAFS in the wire loom,
right near the passenger side strut tower, was cracked --
right where the loom bends toward the firewall...even
though, it had never been opened!!! I had the similar
issues, and also experienced pee-poor fuel economy...

what I did to diagnose the problem was shake the wires in
various places to try and isolate where the problem lay...
since it's been fixed, my car runs like a dream!

oh, and the dealer told me the problem was "100% torque convertor"...
and that it would cost $1600+ to repair...it actually cost me about
$200, as I had an electrical place do the repair for me.

good luck!

Can you tell me where the break occurred?
Do you have any idea what may have caused it?

The only reason I finally found out the REAL issue is that the
Infiniti Parts Manager (SOOOoooo much better than Nissan!) told
me that my break had happened once before.

thanks!

the guy at my nissan place said it was caused by the engine moving everytime you hit the gas. i guess our harnesses were too tight and the engine would pull the wires. he showed me the tsb and there is also an upgraded kit for new clips that should stop it from happening again. best part was he only charged me 40 bucks to fix it and that kit is only gonna cost me 12. pays to have a friend work at nissan ....email me and i will give you more info you always seemed to have the same problems i had and at least now we know whats wrong with it...i guess that maf ground was just a band aid fix
