I'm thinking of getting clear tail lights and painting them red but I'm not sure how it looks. Has anyone on here done this or have any pics of what it looks like. Also, where can I get some clear tail lights for cheap and the red paint??

I thought about leaving it clear but I have never seen what it looks like on a max. I would like to see what it looks like first on a dark colored max. I also dont know where to get some for a good price.

You are correct sir. No matter what color your bulb is, you must reflect red in the rear and amber on the sides. This is why technically clear corners are illegal. In reality, you will -never- get called on this for clear corners. All-clear rears maybe, but unlikely. As long as you shine the correct light, cops will probably not have a problem with it.

Put some red reflective sticker on clear tail light and red/amber bulb. That way cop's don't mind about if you got clear or not.
BTW, I think there's no application for 97-99 maxima on clear tail light. I saw one on 97.. It looks kinda odd (different tail light shape on 95-96 vs 97-99).
Although mine said it fit 96-97.

I have the clear tail lights on my Maxima. Decided to sell them when my county in Tucson, AZ passed a new law banning the use of any clear parts on your car. After asking around about painting the bottom half red, I have opted to keep the clears and try to paint them myself. I have still not recieved enough information to know exactly what to do, but I am going to give it a shot using Candy Apple transparent paint.
