My clutch pedal on my 95 SE maxima is no longer responding. I can no longer shift into any gear. I was driving my car the other day, and I had difficulty shifting into gears, but my clutch was fine. The next time I started my car there was no pressure on the clutch. I installed a peacestter short throw shifter about 3000 miles ago. It may be the reason for the problem, but I have had no prior complications from the mod. Some friends have told me it may be the clutch cables or fluid that is causing the problem. Has anybody had this problem with their car? I really do not much about cars, in fact i am a moron when it comes to them. I would appreciate any help. Thankyou.

Your Maxima has a hydraulic clutch actuator which is similar in many respects to the brake system. There is a master cylinder with a reservoir, a slave cylinder on the transaxle, and a tube which connects the two. One of these components has failed and requires repair.

Be of good cheer. This repair costs much less than replacement of the clutch.
