closed loop control?

I got the codes off my ecu lastnight and one of the fault codes I was getting was "closed loop control", what does this mean? My alt. is going bad in my car, I have no clue if this has anything to do with it. Please help me out, I have to get inspected this week!

alright thanks...I am also getting the code 09 01 which is the front right heated o2 sensor...so that may be my only problem....guess I will replace that and see where I stand.
