I have read the shoptalk and I have done lots of searches. I have found nothing on making a template to make a 3.5’ hole near the fender.

I know there are lots of folks with CAI. I would appreciated, if you all share your knowledge of making a 3.5’ hole template.

Shoptalk sawed a smooth and a circler 3.5’ opening. You can’t do that with a saw. Can you use a grill as a saw?

 

there should be a template thats already included with your intake

 

I just ordered an ebay CAI. I didn't know it comes with one. I have not received the package yet.

its just a piece of paper with a stencil you cut out and tape on the fender so you know where to cut a hole. ask place racing or cattman for one

Been there, done that. I bought a used PR CAI from someone and there was no template. PR didn't even respond, neither did Cattman. The sellers on eBay didn't know if it came with one, even though I was willing to pay them for it.

I wound up just eyeballing it from the pictures and it wound up okay. But don't use a 3.5" hole saw. I used a 3" and it's a tad on the large side.

Indeed. You can get a 3.5" hole-saw bit for your drill. That's the best (and recommended) way of doing it. Be prepared to pay ~$20 for the blade, though. The cheap ones have been known to break.
