The car should be prewired for the fog lights. If you reach behind the plastic horizontal slats there should be the harness. The foglamp kit is merely a metal bracket to mount the light, and the foglight. Also included is the fuse relay and a new indicator stalk. Delio put fog lights on his GXE and did mine too. Looks a heck of alot better! Totally worth it. Install time is about 1 hr. Not hard to do ( at least for Del )

I too have been trying to locate the fog harness on my '99 gxe and have found one unused, grey connector, and taped together with a bunch of other wires immediately behind the driver's side headlight, however the harness is very short about 5" max and wont reach the fog housing, so not sure if this is the one. Also i couldn't find any harness on the passenger's side or is there not supposed to be one?

i dont think so

i have a 99 gxe 5 spd, no options other than the basic, like power windows and locks and of course mirrors and a/c, i dont think the car comes with the harness, only because i think only gxe's w/ auto trans.

Enduro thats not the harness, look at the plug its way to small. I have a 97 gxe stock with a slush box and I dont have a harness. I looked everywhere. I even found some harness by the coolant tank that looks point less. But the weird thing is that I had the connections to the relay and the switch. go figure

To settle this, I posted the scanned copy of the fromt page of the Nissan OEM foglight installation, stolen right from Cheston's page on it. If you have a 4th Gen auto with out the ABS, Cruise Control or power seat, NISSAN states that you DO NOT have the wiring harness, everyone else does.

I have a 96 GXE 5 speed, no options. I cut out my holes and found the wiring harness there, so I don't know about the Nissan's theory.

Kashoggio I think u're right...that plug does look a bit too small for the fog connector. I guess the only difference between my car and a bone bone stock one is it's auto, has powered antenna, and factory alarm (which I think is not factory since when i called the dealer about the alarm they gave me a third party number to call). Guess I'm out of luck Looking into getting some Catz...any recommendations? The MSX and MSR looked to be the best?

power seats

I believe it has to do with a certain comfort package that is in SOME GXEs. I think the easiest way to figure out if you have it is whether you have a power seat or not. If you do have a power seat then you should have the wiring.

guess I AM really out of luck since I also do not have power seat and no harness in sight. Does Nissan sell the harness for factory fogs?

According to Premium Nissan, they sell the harness, but recommend that it not be installed in cars that weren't prewired (no, I don't know why). According to the front page of the installation manual for the fogs, 4Gen AUTOMATIC GXEs without ABS, power seat or Cruise Control DO NOT come prewired. Not 5speeds, automatics. Look at the previous page of this post. The first page of the installation manual is right there.

thanks medicsonic...since Nissan doesn't recommend installing the harness then i wont...may be I could just get the fog kits and snip off the connectors and splice the wires to a different switch...just that I wont be able to use the switch on the oem stalk Oh well at least my quest to find the harness is over, i think
